Portland-based ice cream chain Salt & Straw opened a new Seattle location across from Pike Place Market on Friday.
The big picture: This is the chain's fourth location in Seattle, after it opened a spot in Queen Anne in August.
What to expect: The Pike Street shop isn't set up for people to sit and linger; the idea is you take your ice cream to go as you wander the market or downtown.
The adjacent pedestrianized area has some outdoor seating, or you can stroll over to the Overlook Walk and admire Elliott Bay while you devour your cone.
Dig in: While Salt & Straw is known for its inventive flavors, I find that a split scoop of two more classic flavors — the vegan freckled mint chocolate chip and chocolate gooey brownie — can't be beat.
