Just a few bon bons for the road. Photo: Melissa Santos/Axios
Allow me to rave about one of my new favorite treats: bon bons from PJ's Classic, a walk-up ice cream shop in the Central District.
What to expect: Co-founder Michelle Forbes told me she recreated and refined a family recipe to create the dairy versions of these glorious little ice cream balls dipped in chocolate.
Yes, but: At the top of the menu are the vegan options.
These come in a varietyof flavors, including the O.G. (vanilla dipped in chocolate, Chocolate Dream (with a chocolate ice cream center) and Under the Sea Salt Caramel (with caramel and sea salt additions).
Dig in: You can opt for three bon bons ($9) or a pint of them with eight pieces ($17).
Each vegan bon bon I've tried has felt just as decadent and satisfying as the dairy versions.
I like getting a trio of bon bons and mixing and matching the flavors.
