Seattle's Soundgarden finally won a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year — but some local legends are still waiting their turn.
Why it matters: The Hall of Fame bills the inductions as "rock's greatest honor" bestowed upon the most important acts in music history.
Driving the news: This year's induction ceremony takes place Saturday at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
How it works: To be eligible, an artist had to release their first official recording at least 25 years ago.
The Rock Hall's nominating committee bases its selections on factors such as musical influence, body of work and innovation.
Catch up quick: Besides Soundgarden, several other acts with deep Seattle ties have already been inducted, including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix, Foo Fighters and Heart.
Yes, but: Alice in Chains, formed in Seattle in 1987, has yet to make it — something many view as a major oversight.
Queens of the Stone Age (which got its start in Seattle) and Death Cab for Cutie (formed in Bellingham in 1997) also have not received the honor.
How to watch: The 2025 induction ceremony will stream live at 5pm Saturday on Disney+.
