Mary E. Brunkow, a senior program manager at the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, learned she'd won the Nobel Prize yesterday when an Associated Press photographer arrived at her home to take her photo, the AP reported.
Brunkow and two other scientists were honored for their work identifying regulatory T cells, known as "the immune system's security guards," per the Nobel committee.
