A political action committee supporting Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell has raised more than $1 million as the mayoral race enters its final stretch.
Why it matters: The cash gives Harrell's allies a powerful edge to flood voters with ads backing him, while undercutting progressive challenger Katie Wilson.
Zoom in: Major donors to the Bruce Harrell for Seattle's Future PAC include the political arms of the Washington Realtors and local Master Builders Association, along with Mariners chairman and CEO John Stanton, campaign finance records show.
The PAC — which operates independently of Harrell's campaign — had spent less than $300,000 as of the end of August, likely leaving it with a war chest of $700,000 or more.
A left-leaning PAC supporting Wilson, meanwhile, has raised about $86,000 so far.
What's next: Expect a flurry of ads and mailers in this race ahead of the Nov. 4 election. Ballots will be mailed to registered Seattle voters Oct. 15.
