Seattle has several events this month to celebrate Juneteenth, which commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas learned they were free.
Here are a few of our top picks. All are free unless otherwise noted:
Black Night Market
June 13 and June 20
This waterfront event on Pier 62 will spotlight Black-owned local businesses, as well as businesses owned by other people of color. It will also feature live performances and food trucks.
- Runs from 3:30-9:30 pm both Fridays.
Atlantic Street Center Juneteenth Celebration
Wednesday, June 18
Watch local performers, shop community vendors and sample regional food trucks at this event the night before Juneteenth.
- Admission is free, but registration is encouraged.
- 5-8pm at the Rainier Beach Community Center, 8825 Rainier Avenue South.
Seward Park Juneteenth celebration
Thursday, June 19
This city-sponsored event will feature live music, food vendors, line dancing, group painting, and a video game truck, among other activities.
- Shelter No. 3 at Seward Park, 5900 Lake Washington Boulevard South.
Northwest African American Museum events
Thursday, June 19
The Central District museum is showcasing Black artists from 10am-3pm, plus offering community discussion panels and performances.
- Meanwhile, across the street in Judkins Park, NAAM is sponsoring a community expo from 10am-5pm; sports skills and drills clinics from 11am-5pm; and a "Skate to Freedom" event from noon-5pm.
- The museum is located at 2300 South Massachusetts Street.
Juneteenth Festival 2025
Thursday, June 19
This outdoor celebration — organized by the Africatown Community Land Trust and King County Equity Now — will feature live music, community speakers and food vendors.
- 12-8pm at Jimi Hendrix Park (next to the Northwest African American Museum).
#TheBlackout: All-Black Comedy Showcase
Friday, June 20
An all-Black cast will present a variety show featuring comedy, burlesque and musical performances.
- 9 pm, Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center, 104 17th Avenue South.
- Tickets cost $30-$35.
Songs of Black Folk 2025
Sunday, June 22
- This concert "showcases how Black music has shaped and influenced culture worldwide," honoring traditions ranging from spirituals to jazz to hip-hop.
- 7-10pm at McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer Street.
- Ticket prices range from $56 to $160.
