Seattle-Bremerton riders get relief Sunday with second ferry

State of play: Right now, boats on the Seattle to Bremerton route depart roughly every two to 2.5 hours during the day.

The latest: Starting Sunday, most departures on the route will be less than 90 minutes apart, with some sailings only 60 or 70 minutes apart.

• The new schedule will feature 15 sailings in each direction daily, compared to only eight right now.

What's next: The state plans to return another ferry to service on the route between Fauntleroy, Vashon Island and Southworth starting June 30, Ferguson told reporters Thursday.

• Then, starting July 4, officials will add another boat between Port Townsend and Coupeville, boosting service on that route from Fridays to Mondays throughout the summer, he said.
• That will mean 18 boats will be in the water at any given time — a level of service last seen in 2019, per the governor's office.
