Seattle had the second-most AI job openings this past January, new data shows.
Why it matters: Amid lots of consternation about AI taking people's jobs, at least some people are finding new roles working with the emerging technology.
Driving the news: The Seattle area — which includes Bellevue and Tacoma — came in second for AI jobs with 1,472 postings.
New York City had the most, with nearly 1,995 postings, followed by San Jose with 1,228.
That's according to UMD-LinkUp AI Maps, a collaboration between the University of Maryland, job listings platform LinkUp and Outrigger Group, a consultancy and executive firm.
How it works: Researchers used AI to analyze job postings for roles requiring AI skills.
Zoom in: There were dozens of Seattle-based AI jobs posted on Indeed this week, ranging from a $20-an-hour job as a DataAnnotation digital marketing AI trainer to a machine learning engineer at Zoom with an annual salary up to $487,000.
The bottom line: If you're looking for an AI job, Seattle and the country's other long-standing tech hotspots are hard to beat.
