Sea-Tac's not cheap

Seattle-Tacoma International is one of the more costly large airports to fly out of domestically, per the latest Transportation Department data.

By the numbers: Flights originating out of Sea-Tac cost an average of $378 in the third quarter of last year.

• That's slightly higher than the national average of $366, and the 17th highest average among the 50th busiest U.S. airports.

Caveat: Lots of factors affect airports' average fares, and airfare for some destinations can rise and fall over the year.

• The actual amount you'll pay for a ticket will depend on variables like the route, upgrades, schedules and so on.
