Cooler temps hint at snow, but Seattle has to wait

• But whether temperatures will drop enough to deliver flakes to Seattle remains unknown, NWS meteorologist Kayla Mazurkiewicz told Axios.

What they're saying: "People are excited and want to know, but lowland snow is the most difficult to predict," she said. "Everything has to line up exactly."

What's happening: This week kicked off with a continuation of chilly, sunny days.

• A warmer, wetter system is set to move in late Thursday into Friday, bringing classic Seattle winter weather — rain in the lowlands and snow in the mountains, Mazurkiewicz said.
• By Saturday, the weather becomes a wildcard. If temperatures drop at the same time precipitation arrives, snow is possible, but it's far from "set in stone," she said.
