Rare comet to grace the skies this month

Skygazers could get a few opportunities to see a rare comet this month as it soars over the stratosphere for the first time in 80,000 years.

Driving the news: Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, also known as C/2023 A3, is expected to become visible in the evening sky on Monday or Tuesday.

Initially, it will be best seen on the western horizon about an hour after sunset, according to Space.com.
As the month progresses, the comet's visibility will improve, and it will rise higher in the sky, becoming even more prominent for viewers in the Seattle area.
The comet is more likely to be visible to the naked eye in late October 2024.
