"Over 80%" of Washington delegates back Harris as Democratic nominee

• Harris has already been endorsed by enough Democratic delegates nationwide to secure the nomination, per AP.

Zoom in: "In our unofficial count, we are seeing well over 80% supporting VP Harris," Stephen Reed, spokesperson for the Washington state Democrats, wrote in an email Tuesday.

• The state's 111 Democratic convention delegates will hold a meeting on Thursday to decide whether they'll formally endorse anyone, and will make an announcement afterward, Reed added.

Follow the money: Reed said Washington's Democratic Party also saw a fundraising boost after Biden dropped out, racking up more than 900 new donations between Sunday and Tuesday morning, totaling nearly $38,000.

• That's the second-most successful 48-hour fundraising period in the organization's history, trailing only the days right before the 2020 general election, he said.

What's next: Before Aug. 7, Democrats across the country plan to hold a "virtual roll call" where nearly 4,000 party delegates will vote online to formally decide the party's nominee for president.
