Taylor Swift is the most-streamed artist on Spotify this year in Seattle, with Drake, Morgan Wallen, The Weeknd and SZA rounding out the city's top five.
Driving the news: Spotify Wrapped dropped yesterday, unlocking over 574 million listeners' top songs, artists, albums and podcasts of 2023 and naming Swift the most-streamed artist globally. Drake, Morgan Wallen, The Weeknd and Bad Bunny are also among the top 10 in the U.S.
Zoom out: The most-streamed song on Spotify in the U.S. is "Last Night" by Morgan Wallen.
- The most-streamed album in the country is "One Thing at a Time" by Morgan Wallen.
In Seattle, the top songs of the year are:
- "Kill Bill" by SZA
- "Last Night" by Morgan Wallen
- "Flowers" by Miley Cyrus
- "Cruel Summer" by Taylor Swift
- "Something in the Orange" by Zach Bryan
The city's top genres of 2023 are pop, rap, hip-hop, rock and pop-rap.
The intrigue: Spotify is giving Swift fans some fun Easter eggs within the app.
- When listeners play a Swift song, the progress bar changes to match the color of the song's "era" and the progress button turns into a sparkle.
- Top Swift streamers on Spotify will also receive a card they can share and a thank-you message from the "Cruel Summer" artist.
Plus: The most popular podcasts in the U.S. were "The Joe Rogan Experience," "Call Her Daddy" and "Crime Junkie."
- The most anticipated global podcast launch by a U.S. creator was "Hot Mess" with Alix Earle.
The big picture: Overall, Spotify said 2023 was defined by a return of female artists, diversity across streaming and a rise of different genres within global music culture.
