Taste test of Hot Joy's new location on Broadway

Hot Joy is now open on Broadway after relocating from its longtime spot in Southtown.

Catch up quick: It now neighbors the new Nola Brunch and Beignets and CommonWealth on Jones.

The vibe: Expect the same playful aesthetic as the original South Alamo spot, with Asian-inspired decor like a ceiling of lanterns. Drinks are served in Tiki glasses.

What to try: The savory ginger scallion noodles ($11), with added brisket ($6) for extra protein.

• The Spill'n the Tea cocktail ($14) — made with Japanese gin, aloe liqueur, lemon and green tea — was crisp and refreshing, perfectly balancing the rich flavors.
• The Spam fried rice ($18) is topped with plenty of delicious Kewpie mayo.
