Kearns is launching a "walking loop" in the business district in hopes of making the suburb more of a pedestrian shopping and dining destination.
The big picture: State and municipal officials are looking to designate similar walking routes in multiple cities to promote local businesses and encourage walkability in the Salt Lake metro in the years leading up to the 2034 Winter Olympics.
Magna also marked out a path this year.
Driving the news: Kearns officials are hosting a celebration 11am-1pm Saturday at Library Plaza to kick off the loop shortly before Día de los Muertos festivities begin at the library.
Walk the route to find treats at some of the stops.
Zoom in: The loop circles the Kearns Town Center, with multiple restaurants and markets, as well as the library, Oquirrh Hills Elementary and areas for food trucks and pop-up events.
