Salt Lake's neighborhoods are getting spooky with fog machines, wiggling animatronics and eerie lighting — and we want you to relish every jump scare.
The big picture: We curate a map of the county's best-decorated houses each year, with updates throughout October so you can find the biggies near you.
- We typically end up with the most comprehensive guide to Salt Lake's haunted houses. Last year we found more than 200!
Behind the scenes: Utah has a massive network of amateur haunters who help each other take their displays to the next level each year.
- Multiple surveys and studies rank us No. 1 for time, money and space devoted to Halloween decorating.
What's inside: As of Oct. 9, we have more than 100 locations for 2026 mapped with photos. Look for purple ghosts on the map.
- We're also showing previous years' haunts for reference; those are marked with orange ghosts.
- The castle icons mark commercial and professional attractions.
Tell us: Do you have a display you'd like to share, or have you seen any that we've missed?

Zoom in: Here are some of our faves in Salt Lake City proper:

900 East: Ammon Smith's themed haunts wow each year, and the coven of 2026 is no exception.
- There's even a full-scale walk-up witches' hut to see how the potion gets made.

Garden of unearthly delights: Fairpark gets a lesson in horror-ticulture each fall with this cute, cozy and creepy display.

Park Street Saloon: Old West themes are underused in Salt Lake's Halloween scene, but this display south of Liberty Park is a proper boo-nanza.

Haunt on High: Glendale is dense with scary animatronics. Hop around the corner while you're there to see the neighbor's awesome display, too.

Glittering ghosts: Follow the fairy lights to the festering freaks on 100 South.
- Then head to the renowned pumpkin house at 800 East and 300 South.
Zoom out: If you're outside Salt Lake County, check out the outstanding Rocky Mountain Haunters map.
Flashback: Check out our past visits to Sandy and Riverton, as well as these 10 spectacles.
