Sign up for a free SLC tree

Time is running out for Salt Lake City residents to ask the city to plant a tree in their parking strip in the next few months.

Why it matters: Trees are irreplaceable shade sources as temperatures climb and heat islands intensify.

How it works: Fill out a request online before Oct. 1, and city crews will plant a tree sometime from November to April.

You just need to promise to water it. If you aren't the property owner, the city will need the owner's approval before planting.
City foresters choose trees based on your space, though you can try to ask for a specific tree.
