Utah has better EV infrastructure than most other Western states, per a new report.
State of play: Utah has 63 public chargers per 1,000 miles of road in Utah — more than the national average of 60, according to HERE Technologies and SBD Automotive's annual ranking.
The intrigue: That's despite Utah's long stretches of highway with so few services that signs warn motorists to gas up.
By the numbers: Utah's overall EV infrastructure ranks No. 15 in the nation, based on the number of registered EVs, public chargers and the chargers' availability and average power.
- That's above all other western states except Nevada (No. 6) and California (No. 8).
Zoom out: The strongest "EV readiness" is on the east coast, with Delaware ranked No. 1 overall, and New Jersey hosting the most chargers per 1,000 miles of road at 626.
- North Dakota has the fewest — three — with Nebraska ranked at No. 51 for overall readiness.
