Utah Arts Festival to celebrate 50th anniversary

Here's what's new this year:

• A free 90-minute stained-glass workshop hosted by Holdman Studios, a local company known for its work at the state Capitol and Utah Valley University's "Roots of Knowledge" display.
• A craft beer lounge.
• A special 50th anniversary cider by Mountain West Hard Cider.

What they're saying: "We really wanted ... to make sure that there's opportunities for people to really participate in any kind of way," executive director Aimée Dunsmore told Axios.

Catch up quick: After facing a $200,000 deficit and low attendance at the 2024 festival, the event saw a significant rebound last year, with attendance increasing 27% to just over 42,500 people, according to Dunsmore.

• The recovery was attributed to community support, generous donations, and a new festival layout designed to improve shade.
• This year's goal is 45,000 attendees.
