New history and art museums to open in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City will welcome two new museums this summer: One dedicated to history and another to fine arts, City Weekly reports.

State of play: The Museum of Utah, which will focus on the state's history, opens at the new North Capitol Building on Capitol Hill on June 27.

It will house artifacts and archives that tell the story of the state's founding.

Meanwhile, The Salt Lake Art Museum is set to debut in July, with an emphasis on highlighting Utah artists.

It's taking over the historic B'nai Israel Temple in Central City and being billed as the city's first fine art museum since 1983.
