Meet Utah's winter Paralympic medalists

Nine of Team USA's 24 medals in the past two weeks went to Paralympians with ties to Utah during the 2026 Winter Games, which ended Sunday in Italy.

The big picture: Utah is home to several of the country's top winter sports facilities and the National Ability Center in Park City, where many of the athletes have trained.

About a third of Team USA — in both the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics — had ties to Utah.

Here are Utah's medalists:

Sydney Peterson: The cross-country skier and U of U neuroscience Ph.D. candidate won golds in the women's 10K and 20K, and as one of four racers in the mixed 2.5 km relay — and silver in the 1K classic sprint.

That brings her Paralympic medal count to seven after winning a gold, silver and bronze in 2022.

Kate Delson: As the youngest para snowboarder on Team USA, this 20-year-old Utahn won gold in the banked slalom and silver in snowboard cross in her Paralympic debut.

Noah Elliott: In the men's division, the reigning World Cup para snowboarding champion and National Ability Center alum also won gold in banked slalom and silver in snowboard cross.

He's won four Paralympic medals in total, including two golds.

Brenna Huckaby: The Team Utah para snowboarder and three-time gold medalist won bronze in the women's banked slalom.
