Utah Gr8s bring arena football back to Salt Lake

The big picture: The International Arena League will make its debut in April with at least four teams in the U.S. and five in Europe.

• Other cities with confirmed teams include: Phoenix; Cincinnati; Las Vegas; Nottingham, England; Glasgow, Scotland; Stuttgart, Germany; Dusseldorf, Germany; and Zurich, Switzerland.

How it works: Games will mostly follow the traditional format of eight-on-eight arena football, "but we've made a few rule changes to make it faster, higher scoring and borderline crazy!" per the league website.

Catch up quick: Salt Lake previously was home to the Arena Football League's Utah Blaze, which played in various iterations in Salt Lake, Orem and West Valley City until 2013.
