Holiday markets are underway, with arts, crafts, sweet treats, Santa visits and other festivities.
The intrigue: The holiday shopping season is kicking off this year amid national boycotts organized by the same groups that rallied millions to the streets at anti-Trump protests throughout the year.
- That could push some shoppers toward the types of local, artisan gifts you find at winter markets.
Here are some markets to check out:
Wheeler Farm Holiday Market: Utah-made gifts, drawings, wagon rides and Christmas lights, with a visit from Santa on Friday.
- 5-8pm Friday and 9am-5pm Saturday and Sunday
Holiday 20th Street Market: Get a photo with Santa and shop curated art, baked goods, clothing and more.
- 10am-4pm Friday and Saturday, Twenty & Creek
Small Business Saturday Handmade Crafts: A hyper-local neighborhood market in West Jordan, with jewelry, home accents and more.
- 10am-3pm Saturday, 7157 S. Tico Dr.
Central City Gift Exchange and Market: 20 local vendors in the newly-renovated, historic Film Exchange Building.
- 10am-3pm Saturday, 250 E. 100 South
Small Business Saturday at Church & State: Local vendors, music and prizes.
- 11am-4pm Saturday, 370 S. 300 East
Small Business Saturday Pop-Up Market: Local vendors will showcase their wares at A La Mode in Sugar House.
- Noon on Saturday, 1121 E. 2100 South
SLC Creatures & Features Market: 20+ "alternative" vendors, a cocoa and cider bar and food, followed by a free screening of "Donnie Darko."
- Noon-6pm Saturday, movie at 7:30pm; Murray Armory
Hazy Days Craft Market: Sip a cold one while shopping for handmade gifts.
- Noon on Saturday, Midvale's 2 Row Brewing. Ages 21+
A Murray Christmas Holiday Market: Live music, a tree lighting ceremony, a hot air balloon glow, fireworks, crafts at Santa's Village and the big man's arrival via firetruck.
- 4-8pm Saturday, Murray City Hall
Pagan Black Sunday Market: Bring your own treasures to exchange.
- 11am-4pm Sunday, Murray Armory
Holladay Mini Art Market and Tree Lighting: Enjoy live music and Santa's arrival.
- 5:30-7pm Dec. 1, Holladay City Village Plaza
Light the Heights Holiday Market: Santa visits, cocoa, crafts, live music and a tree lighting.
- 5-7pm Dec. 1, Cottonwood Heights City Hall
