Passengers describe chaos on SLC-Amsterdam flight that hospitalized 25

Seatbelt signs were off and beverage service was in progress as a Delta flight from Salt Lake to Amsterdam hit "significant turbulence" that injured dozens before an emergency landing Wednesday in Minneapolis, passengers say.

Zoom in: Upon the first sudden drop, over Wyoming, "everything that wasn't nailed down was up in the air," passenger Joseph Carbone told WCCO-CBS News.

That included a beverage cart, passenger Leslie Woods added.
One man "flew out of his seat and hit the ceiling," passenger Nick-Taylor Jensen told the Minnesota Star-Tribune.
A young girl repeatedly screamed "We're going to die, we're going to die, we're going to die," Woods recounted — a sentiment other passengers said they shared.

By the numbers: 25 passengers were taken to Twin Cities hospitals, Delta said.

The Airbus A330-900 dropped about 2,300 feet in less than two minutes, per flight data reported by Flightradar24.
