Snowbird tops snow charts

Ski destinations in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons scored the most snow during the 2024-2025 season, according to Ski Utah.

The big picture: The Rocky Mountain region, which includes Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, recorded its third busiest ski season on record, according to the National Ski Areas Association's preliminary data, released in May.

By the numbers: The top five resorts that led the pack for snowfall this past season, per Ski Utah, are:

Snowbird: 542 inches
Alta Ski Area: 538 inches
Brighton: 478 inches
Solitude Mountain Resort: 420 inches
Park City Mountain: 306 inches
