Thursday is the spring equinox — when the whole world gets (almost) equal daylight and darkness.
- Like the solstices, equinox celebrations are gaining popularity as Utahns explore spiritual communities — and find more excuses to party.
🎉 Ostara: Midvale will be bumpin' Friday, with new Main Street party lights, interactive art installations, live music, vendors and an equinox art gallery 5-11pm at Penrose Artist Company. Admission is free.
- Across the street, Cactus & Tropicals will be celebrating its newest location with games, giveaways and music — and plants for spring.
- Grab a bite at The Bambino pizza parlor and Setties desserts, which opened a few months ago at the historic Vincent Drugs storefront — or stroll up to the brand new Señor Pollo. Altojitos is another dessert fave on Main.
- Drop by Nomadic Ink's flash event Friday night — or the Pearl on Main for lineup of youth rock bands. Disclosure: Erin's kid is on the program.
⚖️ Spring Equinox Celebration: South Jordan's EVOLVE Wellness Collective is seeking equilibrium at 7:30pm Thursday with 20 minutes of balance poses, 20 minutes of journaling and 20 minutes in the salt cave.
- Admission: $22.22
🍲 Pagan Potluck: Bring a hot dish to the Conjuring Tree for food and fellowship at 6pm Friday. Arrive a half-hour early for an orientation and smudging. Free to attend.
🍻 Equinox Glow Party: Scion Cider Bar is dimming the lights for house music, glow sticks, light-up floral wreaths and more at 7pm Friday.
- Admission: Free
🔮 Ostara ritual: The Pleiadian Altar crystal shop is welcoming spring with togetherness and witchcraft at 9pm Friday. Admission $10.
- Come back Wednesday to make spring witch hats.
🌟 Neon Sky Vibrations: Follow your inner healing light with a glowing soundbath meditation 7:30pm Friday at The Local Co-op.
- Tickets: $25
🐈⬛ Equinox Rite: Align with the vernal influences of rebirth and prosperity at 7pm Friday at the Cat & Cauldron. Free but donations accepted; RSVP at 801-601-1795.
- Come back Sunday to create your own Book of Shadows for $25. Call to register.
🧘 Seasons of Self yoga: Listen to the rhythms of the changing seasons with "gentle flows, guided meditations, and rituals of renewal" 6pm Saturday at Full Circle Yoga.
- Cost: $30 for the session or $100 for four sessions, one for each solstice and equinox.
🔔 Spring equinox sound immersion: Vibe with the season in a relaxing sound immersion focused on growing and evolving, at 11:30am Sunday at Synchronicities in Sandy.
- Cost: $15-$30 according to your means
The bottom line: It's a real holiday, and there are lots of rites of spring to join this week.
