We posted a survey in early February asking readers to choose a name for Utah's NHL team among the remaining finalists.
Driving the news: Following trademark troubles, the team recently revealed the three for their permanent name: Utah Hockey Club, Mammoth or Outlaws.
By the numbers: It was a close one, with nearly 43% of you choosing the Mammoth, followed by Outlaws (38%) and the current name, Utah Hockey Club, a distant third at 19%.
What they're saying: "It represents the region as mammoths once roamed there and also represents the massive size you would want the team to be. Great logo ideas and just makes more sense than 'Outlaws,'" one survey taker said.
- Others said the Utah Outlaws pay homage to Utah's Wild West era.
- "Anything to shed the perception of Utah being a state full of squares," a Utah Outlaws voter said.
- One argued the Utah Hockey Club, the team's current name, is "already established and I like it."
