Cat video film fest coming to Salt Lake

An August film festival promises to introduce Utahns to cinema's most elevated genre: cat videos.

Driving the news: The nationwide CatVideoFest is coming to the Broadway Centre Cinemas for two screenings starting Aug. 31.

What's inside: The "festival" is a 73-minute compilation of "the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses," per the show's creators.

Purr it out: Proceeds from tickets are donated to local pet shelters and other animal charities.

What's next: Showtimes for the festival are 2pm Aug. 31 and 7pm Sept. 3.
