Pioneer Day is July 24.
In case you're new here: The holiday commemorates the arrival of the Latter-day Saint pioneers in 1847.
The intrigue: Those who don't partake have fashioned their own cheeky celebration, called Pie 'n' Beer Day.
The bottom line: Utah will be in party mode, both for the holiday and for the expected announcement that SLC will be a future host of the Winter Olympic Games.
