A 65-foot-tall climbing wall opened to much fanfare last Saturday at Millcreek City Hall, drawing professional climbers and residents.

Why it matters: It's the tallest outdoor wall in the state and, perhaps, the world's only outdoor climbing wall attached to a city hall, per municipal officials.

Zoom in: Speed climbers Piper Kelly, who is set to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and John Brosler, who plans to compete in the Olympic Qualifier Series this summer, were among the first to test out the wall.

Between the lines: Kelly and Brosler did not have to travel far. Both live in Salt Lake City and Team USA speed climbers often train at Momentum in Millcreek.

By the numbers: The wall was largely funded by a $200,000 grant from the state Department of Natural Resources' outdoor recreation division.

How to go: Reservations are available at millcreekcommon.org and it will be open through Oct. 31 from 11am-8pm Sunday-Thursday and 11am-9pm Friday and Saturday.
