5 new Richmond restaurants to try this weekend

Richmond's dining scene is sizzling with new openings, including gelato in Lakeside, a Scott's Addition addition and fast casual in Short Pump.
Here's what's happening:
🍕 The Mantu Express, Chef Hamid Noori's fast casual Afghan restaurant and pizza parlor, is now open in Short Pump at 11636 W. Broad St.
- It's the third restaurant from Noori, who fled Afghanistan in 2015 and opened his first Richmond restaurant, The Mantu, in Carytown in 2019. The Mantu Market opened in 2022.
- At the latest spot, in the former Two Guys Pizza location, locals will find bowls, dumplings, wraps and subs, plus pizza, ice cream and an all-day buffet for just $14.99 per person ($10 for kids).
- The Mantu Express is open Tuesday - Sunday, 11am-9pm.
🍔 Toast gastropub's Scott's Addition location opens Friday, co-owner Chris Staples tells Axios.
- It's the first full-service restaurant to open in the Scott's Walk center, across from The Diamond, at 3038 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd.
- The all-day menu includes entree salads, burgers and sandwiches, and affordable American fare entrees, including fish and chips, shrimp tacos and hanger steak. Toast also promises an extensive bourbon selection.
- Toast will serve lunch and dinner Tuesday -Sunday, plus weekend brunch and later bar hours.
🍨 Davvero Gelato debuted last weekend at 6931 Lakeside Ave. in Lakeside.
- The all-vegan seasonal selection rotates, but can include All the Chocolate, Masala Chai and Triple Berry, plus coffee drinks.
- The shop is open Thursday - Sunday. Hours vary, check insta for the latest.
🌯 In chain news, the Chesterfield courthouse area location of CAVA, the fast casual Mediterranean chain, opens Friday at 9959 Iron Bridge Road.
🍰 Tous les Jours a French-Korean bakery chain, opened up in Lotte Plaza Market's food court, Richmond Mag reports.
ICYMI:🫗 The Can Can Cafe inside the Library of Virginia is closed.
- Burger Bach's Short Pump location and Slingshot in Scott's Addition are also closed, per Richmond BizSense.
