"Top Chef" alum Katsuji Tanabe will revive his Raleigh restaurant High Horse at the Hub RTP development in Research Triangle Park.
Why it matters: Tanabe opened High Horse to much acclaim in downtown Raleigh in 2019, with a menu that combined Mexican, Japanese and American culinary traditions.
But the restaurant was short-lived, closing during the first few months of the pandemic.
Driving the news: Tanabe is partnering with restaurateur Anthony Rapillo and investor Andrew Rava on the 5,000-square-foot space in the Horseshoe building at Hub RTP.
It joins a growing number of restaurants opening there, including the Indian restaurant Cheeni, an expansion from Prime Barbecue and Drift Cafe.
Between the lines: It's the second concept that Tanabe and his partners have launched in Research Triangle Park, after opening a taco joint at Boxyard RTP down the street this spring.
That restaurant — La Taqueria by Katsuji — serves up tacos inspired by the chef's Mexico City upbringing.
What's next: High Horse is slated to open in summer 2026.
