Acclaimed chef Oscar Diaz will open a taco-focused restaurant in downtown Durham.
Why it matters: Diaz, who has nabbed two James Beard award nominations, is the creative mind behind Little Bull in Durham and previously led Cortez in Raleigh — two restaurants that have both become favorites in their respective city.
Driving the news: Diaz's next venture, Tataco, is currently under construction at the GeerHouse apartment project in downtown Durham. It will be the first retailer to open in the new building — located in one of the city's busiest entertainment districts.
Diaz has not yet responded to a request for comment, and an opening date was not immediately known.
But he recently told The News & Observer the focus of the restaurant will be on making its own tortillas for tacos and sopes.
