Portland's fall days are getting warmer

If it feels like things are staying hotter, longer into the shoulder season, it's not just you.

By the numbers: The number of fall days with above normal temperatures has increased by 18 between 1970 and 2025, per analysis from Climate Central.

The increase is primarily driven by human-caused climate change.

Case in point: On Tuesday, I was driving around looking for any hint of changing leaves, but instead found my car telling me it was near 90° F.

What's next: There are still hints of traditional fall on the horizon, with rain and highs in the 60s on tap for this weekend.

But forecasts are calling for a jump back into the mid 80s by next week.
