Good things come to those who wait: A month after most of the country marked Pride, it's Portland's time to shine as we celebrate and honor the LGBTQ+ community.
The big picture: This weekend is packed with events — from jaunts through the forest to iconic queer movie showings to fabulous dance parties.
- Here are a few we think are worth your time.
🐾 Start your Pride weekend with some nature at a queer/trans wildlife tracking workshop from Cascadia Wild Friday morning at Oxbow regional Park.
💃🏾 You'll find dance parties all over, all weekend — the usual suspects like Holocene and the Crystal Ballroom will both host events Friday and Saturday nights, and Peacock PDX promises a weekend-long block party, with DJs and dancing till late.
🌭 All that dancing got you hungry? Hit up one of these drag brunches or head to Irving Park for the Pride Ball Out Cookout — with basketball, BBQ and music from DJ Deadpan starting at 11am Saturday.
🧙 Want some paranormal with your Pride? You'll find aura readings, divinations and other spooky doings at Gay Witch Appreciation Day, hosted by Seagrape Apothecary Saturday from 11am to 5pm.
🎬 If you need a break from the pace of Pride, relax with a movie — the Tomorrow Theater will be showing "The Birdcage" Saturday at 4pm and "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" at 7pm. Gigantic Brewing will host the Gigantic Queer Film Festival Saturday from 8pm to midnight.
💍 Turn your betrothed into your bewed at a mass wedding downtown at Portland's newest park. Renew your vows, have a symbolic ceremony or tie the knot at Darcelle XV Plaza, officiated by Poison Waters, Saturday from 8 to 10pm.
🏳️🌈 The Pride Parade will likely be the weekend's biggest draw, with tens of thousands expected to flock to the route, starting at Northwest Broadway and Davis around 11am Sunday and ending at the festival on the water.
The bottom line: There's a lot more going on than we have room to list, so check out the weekend's full lineup of events here.
