Portland and good barbecue don't usually go together (yes, of course there's Matt's BBQ and Eem). But now a newcomer from Texas could be giving the South a run for its money.
Lil' Barbecue recently opened inside Woodlawn's whiskey bar Tough Luck, and is by the folks behind Austin-based, Michelin-starred restaurant la Barbecue.
Expect to find the classics — brisket, pulled pork, sausage, chicken and ribs — alongside sides like mac n' cheese, tater tots, pork and beans and cole slaw.
There's also "beet ends" (for the vegans), a double-patty burger, sausage dogs and frito pie.
"There are a lot of people who, like myself, have moved away from Texas, but still miss certain aspects of it," co-founder Ben Vaughn told Bridgetown Bites. "I hope that I can provide a little sense of home for fellow transplants."
If you go:Lil' Barbecue is open daily 'til 11pm Sunday through Thursday and Friday and Saturday 'til midnight.
