After shuttering Bollywood Theater's Southeast Division location back in April, chef-owner Troy MacLarty recently opened Maglia Rosa, a new Italian restaurant and market, in its place.
The vibe: Inspired by several recent trips to the country — and his love for cycling culture, hence the restaurant's name — MacLarty, formerly of Chez Panisse, said he wanted the ever-changing menu to reflect the casual nature of Italian cuisine.
Expect to find classics like spaghetti alla norma and plates of peaches, prosciutto and burrata alongside fried rice croquettes and braised pork shoulder with romano beans.
A to-go sandwich counter will be coming within a few months.
More than 130 Italian wines, spanning all of the country's 20 regions, will make up the bulk of the beverage section, as well as several low-proof cocktails, draft beers and ciders.
Plus: The market is stocked with imported Italian goods and pantry items, as well as house-made pastas, sauces and desserts.
If you go:Maglia Rosa (3010 SE Division St.) is open Wednesday through Sunday, 4-9pm.
