Starting tomorrow, the Portland Bureau of Transportation will expand its pay-to-park hours for the Central Eastside district from 6pm until 10pm, Monday through Saturday.
Catch up quick: The agency said the move — which adds Saturday and extends evening paid parking — comes after data showed increased demand for spots and more people parking later into the day for events and dining.
PBOT said extending pay-to-park hours will allow for more turnover at nearby businesses, and add revenue to its basic street maintenance and operations budget.
Between the lines: The Central Eastside (the area between MLK and Grand, from the I-84 freeway down to Clay Street) is the first to see an extension of its on-street, pay-to-park hours.
It's part of a phased approach that will continue through December.
