Bone Sine, sister bar of buzzy Burmese restaurant Rangoon Bistro, opened last week just next door on North Mississippi, offering small bites and inventive cocktails all under $20.
The vibe: Co-owners Nick Sherbo, David Sai and Alex Saw brought in Tulip Shop Tavern's Tyler and Devon Treadwell to design the cocktail menu for their new venture, which pays homage to the informal liquor houses of 1940s Burma.
Designed for late-night hangs and neighborhood drop-ins, Bone Sine will host DJ nights on weekends, as well as early morning Arsenal viewing parties and breakfast options for local futbol fans.
Best bites: The menu features light snacks — like bar nuts tossed in lime leaf, shan spice and brown sugar, plus pickled eggs with Thai chiles — alongside shareable plates like sticky tamarind chicken wings, khao pyan sane (large pork dumpling) and cold Yakisoba noodles in peanut sauce.
The cocktail menu is split 50-50 with N/A options.
A milk tea martini is shaken with vodka and black cardamom, the old fashioned has bourbon washed with coconut fat, and the "Pandan Jungle Bird" is a sweet mix of pineapple juice, lime, banana extract and pandan bitters.
If you go: Bone Sine (3753 N Mississippi Avenue) is open Thursdays and Sundays from 4pm to midnight, and Fridays and Saturdays until 1am.
