Portland Bangers serve up sausage humor and soccer

Catch up quick: From the folks who brought us Portland's other suggestively shaped sports team — the Pickles — the Bangers will compete in USL League Two and also feature collegiate players during the summer months.

• Alan Miller, co-owner and president of the Pickles, previously said he hopes to carry over the baseball team's high energy and raunchy humor to the soccer world.
• Retired Timbers star Jorge Villafaña, who helped the team win its first-ever MLS championship, is the Bangers' head coach alongside adviser Diego Valeri, considered one of the greatest Timbers players ever.

The vibe: Saucy T. Sausage, the team's "feisty and fearless" mascot with twin link braids, was unveiled yesterday — and let's just say: Dillon T. Pickle, bulging muscles and all, should be sweating.

My thought bubble: Mr. Sausage is truly terrifying to look at. Put him in a ring with Dillon now.
