The cost of Portland's I-5 project could exceed $2 billion

The estimated cost to widen I-5 through the Rose Quarter has grown yet again.

The latest: The Oregon Department of Transportation now puts the project cost between $1.96 billion and $2.08 billion, per the Oregonian.

• That's up from its 2023 estimate of $1.5 billion to $1.9 billion.
• Construction on the roadway revamp is slated to begin this summer.
