The new baby elephant at the Oregon Zoo lives up to the hype.
Why it matters: She's really cute.
Zoom in: Tula-Tu was born to Asian elephant Rose-Tu on Feb. 1, weighing around 200 pounds. She quickly became a national media star and a boon for the zoo's social media.
- Stunning stat: At 2 1/2 months old, she's now about 385 pounds, zoo spokesperson Hova Najarian tells Axios.
My thought bubble: On a recent sunny Sunday, my family walked right into Forest Hall — the indoor elephant habitat — and got a good 15 minutes of quality viewing time. It was crowded inside, but not so much that we couldn't sit down and linger for awhile.
If you go: You can catch Tula in all her wrinkly-skinned adorableness inside Forest Hall from about 10am-2pm.
- Zoo tickets for non-members are $26 for adults, $21 for kids; infants are free.
