Former Oregon Sen. Wayne Morse once held the record for the longest filibuster that lasted 22 hours and 26 minutes.
Flashback: Wayne stood up on the Senate floor on April 24, 1953 against Tidelands Oil legislation and didn't conclude until the next day.
Four years later, in 1957, former South Carolina Sen. Strom Thurmond beat Wayne's record.
The latest: Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey — who said his speech that ended Tuesday night was intended to highlight the "recklessness" of the Trump administration — now holds the title for the longest Senate speech after surpassing Thurmond's 24-hour and 18-minute record.
