Plenty of Portland restaurants — like Bamboo Sushi, Grassa and Oven and Shaker — have planted a stake in Lake Oswego's central downtown shopping district, but there's still tons of little, local gems to explore.
Here are seven spots we love.
🌮 Holy Taco is a family-owned and operated restaurant right on 1st Street, where the most popular dish is the "dirty bird" taco — fried chicken, cole slaw, chile honey and cotija on a corn tortilla. Expect more inventive twists like that on the menu.
🇫🇷 La Provence, the popular Parisian-inspired chain, was born in Lake Oswego nearly two decades ago. Visit the flagship location and see why its pastries, Benedicts, and Monte Cristos have captured local taste buds.
🥗 Lola's Cafe Bar is an airy, bright space where you can crank away on your laptop while also enjoying seasonal lattes, generous breakfast plates, smoothies, bowls, sandwiches and salads. They truly have everything and are open until 7pm.
🧁 Kyra's Bake Shop is a four-time winner of the Food Network's "Cupcake Wars," so grabbing one (especially the signature "hot chocolate" with toasted marshmallow) is a sure bet. Other treats, like savory quiches, muffins, and galettes, are more than worthy, too.
🍻 The Dullahan Irish Pub serves classic Irish fare (bangers, Rubens and haddie cakes) alongside an extensive selection of ales. The spacious outdoor patio and live music are also a draw during the summer.
🥘 Hello Little India is one of the region's premier spots to find herby, aromatic curries and hefty portions of savory, heat-building lamb biryani in an unassuming strip mall off I-5.
🍝 Riccardo's Ristorante has been around since the '80s and still maintains its mom-and-pop feel, dishing out delicious Italian staples like veal saltimbocca, eggplant parmigiana and chicken cacciatore.
