Mitch Green is one of 12 new council members who will be sworn in to helm Portland's overhauled government structure in January.
The latest: Axios Portland asked Green, who will be representing District 4, what his top priority is and what constituents might not know about him.
Responses have been edited for length and clarity.
Policy priority: Housing
What he's saying: Green said one of the first things he'll do is push for an ordinance that establishes a social housing program in Portland.
"I intend to work through the relevant committees to design a policy that is effective, resourced and that is informed by tenant rights organizations priorities," he told Axios in an email.
Fun fact: In grad school, Green worked as a teaching assistant to Stephanie Kelton, who served as senior economic advisor to Sen. Bernie Sanders during his 2016 campaign and who authored the New York Times bestseller "The Deficit Myth."
