The share of young Oregonians who are exempt from vaccines is more than double that of the nationwide average and higher than its been in more than a decade, per a report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
The big picture: During the 2023-2024 school year, vaccination coverage among kindergartners in the U.S. decreased to less than 93% for all reported vaccines from the year before.
Oregon's exemption rate has fluctuated over the last 12 years — from a low of 5.9% in 2012 to 8.9% this year.
