👋 Good morning Portland! My name is Kale and I'm the newest addition to your Axios newsletter lineup. I'm thrilled to be here.
A little about me: I was born and raised in the Bay Area (but don't hold that against me) before moving to the Rose City in 2016.
I previously worked at the San Francisco Chronicle, The Oregonian and KGW News, where I covered breaking news, public safety and, most recently, the environment and climate change.
One of my favorite parts of living here is our easy access to outdoorsy things, so you can often find me backpacking in the Cascades, trying to keep sand out of my shoes at the coast or walking my dogs Goose and Beans around my neighborhood in Southeast.
When I'm not in the woods, I'm usually trying to take advantage of the food scene here, either with an amaretto sour at Angel Face, the chive cakes at Yaowarat or looking for something to cook at the Montavilla Farmers Market.
