One of Multnomah County's smallest libraries is getting a whole lot bigger.
The latest: The St. John's library — located off of N Lombard on Charleston Avenue — will close starting tomorrow for renovation and new construction.
The library will expand from 5,600 square feet to just over 8,500 with a new additional building.
Construction is scheduled to finish in spring 2026. Until then, local patrons are encouraged to visit either the Kenton Library or Northwest Library for all services.
Zoom in: The facade of the historic Carnegie building will be kept intact, while a new adjoining building on the west side will add more overall space.
Inside, new amenities include a play and learning space for children, additional meeting rooms and upgraded technology.
