Vietnamese brunch spot Mémoire Cà Phê taps into nostalgia

• Mémoire opened last month and is a reflection of the dishes they loved growing up. Le covers the savory side of the menu, while Nguyen handles the sweets and Dam brings the Vietnamese coffee.

The menu: Patrons of Matta will see some familiar items, like the coconut milk shrimp omelet and smashed pork patty breakfast sandwich with hash browns. New additions include a chewy, pandan waffle with fish sauce bacon and a fried egg atop.

• A black sesame cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing, yuzu olive oil cake, rice flour brownies and hojicha banana bread round out the dessert offerings.
• At the espresso bar, a rotating selection of Vietnamese coffees — like the egg coffee, made with whipped yolks and sweetened condensed milk —shares the spotlight with seasonal specialties such as a not-too-sweet peach-flavored matcha latte.
