Local travel is on the rise, according to new data from Airbnb.
The big picture: In a new study, Airbnb found that more people are using its platform to stay at locations within 300 miles — about a tank of gas — from where they live.
- "Local travel is growing twice as fast as long-distance travel on Airbnb," a statement from the home rental company reads.
The intrigue: The study also found that 40% of Oregonians use Airbnb to stay in state.
- Bend, Lincoln City, The Villages at Mount Hood, Eugene, and Rockaway Beach were the most popular destinations among Portland Airbnb users in the first half of the year.
